The Army of Poznan continues its attack, switching direction from Strykow
toward Warsaw.  General Kutrzeba, commanding, is attempting to surprise
the Germans concentrated near Lodz.

German troops cross the River San in southeastern Poland, driving toward
Lublin.

In Britain, unemployment has soared; 99000 people have lost jobs since
August.  Winston Churchill begins correspondence with U.S. President 
Roosevelt.
