From: Amos Shapira <amoss%BATATA.BITNET@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU> Hello. The caves found by the IDF in Lebanon were indeed stocked with enough arms to supply at least a division. However, the weapons and the caves were NOT prepared by or for Soviet troops. Indeed, even with the amount of weapons stashed in the caves (when the IDF left the areas of the caves, it had to destroy some 30% of the weapons with the caves because the IDF lacked the transports to remove everything in time), the division/s so equipped would be at a grave disadvantage since the vast majority of the weapons were light to medium size (up to KPV machine guns), a lot of explosives, and infiltration equipment. What might have raised the rumour about the caves being for the Soviet army were the two (or three) midget submarines, of the type probably encountered off the Swedish coast. Again, these were in the terrorist's employ, and were to be used against Israel. Sgt (res.), Marc A. Volovic Pvt, Amos Shapira
