From: Dwane Aldrich <aldrich@blake.acs.washington.edu> Watching a documentary on TV last night, a question suddenly struck me: Naval aircraft in World War II seem to have been painted a dark "Naval blue." Naval aircraft from Vietnam to more recent times seem to be painted a light "Naval grey" (except for the Blue Angels, of course). The question: When did the Navy switch from blue to grey coloring for their aviation assets, and what was the reason. Dwane aldrich@blake.u.washington.edu
