Any of the folks out there in netland have 4X4's?
I've recently been exposed to the sport of "muddin" as in
going out to the local ORV (off road vehicle) park
and proceed to follow trails and roads thru some really
tough and muddy terrain.
The current jeep a friend has is set up almost perfectly
for this purpose:
CJ 5 body style
300 cu in Buick (high compression)
Ford top loader 3-speed
36 in tall tires
4.88 gears
posi - both ends
axle housing stiffeners both ends
8000 lb Warn winch
heavy duty custom bumpers
dual shock setup
mild lift
Anyone have information on building a mudder?
My thoughts on one include the basis as either a full size Blazer
or Bronco, or short bed pickup. The larger size will enable you
to run 44 in tires and get the differential as high as
possible without having too tipsy a rig, not as bad as a jeep
anyway. You can also run stronger running gear and have
more room for a big block.
A rig like this would only make sense if you didn't need it
as a daily driver. They tend to scare the sh*t out of other
motorists when they look in the rearview mirror and all
they see is the bottom of the bumper.
cheers,
