From: craig@cs.washington.edu (Craig Anderson) The recent postponement of Discovery's night landing at Edwards raised a question: why do some shuttle military missions end with a night landing, while it seems like all non-military missions end in a daytime landing? I can understand why the government wants to keep the launch time under wraps, but I don't see how a daytime landing can compromise the security of the mission.
