To tie together a couple of threads:

There was a SF/time travel film, "The Final Countdown" made a number
of years ago: what happens if the USS Nimitz is caught in a timewarp
and sent back in time to December 6, 1941. I suspect that it was made
with at least a certain amount of navy cooperation. I saw it when it
first came out and sort of forgot it.

A couple of years ago, I went to visit the Intrepid museum in New
York. Down at one end of the hangar deck, there was a theatre showing
films of modern carrier operations. Something or other about the film
seemed vaguely familiar, but I couldn't quite place it.

A few months after that, I saw "The Final Countdown" again, and I
think I know why the film at the Intrepid seemed so familiar: It had
the same background music as the "Final Countdown"!
