From: military@att.att.com (Bill Thacker) Thursday, 21 December, 1939 Near Suomussalmi, a battle of encirclement is being fought. The Soviet 163rd Rifle division is surrounded by Finnish troops, while the 44th Mechanized division is cut off on a forest road while attempting to aid the 163rd. Both divisions have been out of supply for several days now. France publishes a Yellow Book, their version of the origins of the war.
