[net.auto] the V8

You motorheads out there must realize that the days of the Cuda 440,
Duster 340, etc are gone for good, thanks to Uncle Fed. Certainly it
is a disappointment that V-8s today have so much less horsepower
than the powerhouse engines of the early 70s. Nevertheless, I
would still prefer a stifled 305 to a turbo'd 100 for the ultimate
in highway cruisability. Gas mileage?? I don't like to think about it.

Admittedly, modern V-8s run terribly when cold, but half the time
this is the fault of the 'automatic' choke. A manual or semi-manual
choke could help the problem. That is, if you're willing to void
any dealer warranty installing it.
