Reports from Istanbul indicate that both Turkey and the USSR have
withdrawn their troops from the Caucasus border region.

A squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force arrives in Britain, the
first Canadian squadron to be deployed there.

U.S. Undersecretary of State Welles arrives in Rome, the first stop
on his visit to four European powers.

Pan American Airways announces that effective March 15th, its clipper
planes would no longer stop at Bermuda.  The move is in response to
British seizure and censorship of Europe-bound mail at Bermuda.

Japan begins construction of fortifications at Shanghai and Tsingtao:
the defensive works face inland, to repel overland assaults.  This is
believed to indicate that Japanese forces may soon withdraw from the
Chinese interior.
