From: william@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Bill King) Has anyone heard about the current stand that the Pentagon is taking with the Apache helicopter? I read a newpaper account of how the encountered some fairly big problems in Panama, despite Bush's claims like "it shot 8 men from over 1/2 a mile away" and so on. I know the 30MM gun and the rain were two different problems it has, as well as breakdowns in general. They said something like 12 Apache's were sent to Panama, with like 6 actually deployed, with the other 6 cannabilized for parts. Can anyone give me some info? From all that I had heard before this article, the Apache seemed like a fairly well thought out,well constructed machine, considering.Anyway, any info is appreciated.
