Thanks to everyone who sent me replies to my last test message. Sorry I couldn't ack you individually, I hope you'll understand. The deal is this. For some reason, my "Distribution: world" line was ill-received following a software upgrade here. Our machine therefore treated the problem like all computers treat problems, (i.e., deviously) and ate the postings without telling anyone. You may have noticed that the successful test had Distribution: set to na. Until we can resolve this, I intend to re-post everything submitted to me since 3 May (the earliest outtage date that's been reported to me), using an "na" distribution. Unfortunately, this means our many international friends won't see them, but hopefully the problem will be fixed soon and we can resume world-wide commuication. By way of atonement, I've tried to organize all these postings into consistent packets; I'll post a packet or two a day, so that each shows up as a discrete bundle. If you see something you want to reply to, please be sure to read the rest of the postings in that group to make sure nobody beat you to it. Some of these postings will no doubt be duplicates. Can't be helped.
