From: gwh%earthquake.Berkeley.EDU@ucbvax.Berkeley.EDU (George William Herbert) In the San Fransisco Chronicle this morning... (paraphrased for clarity and copyright purposed 8-) A USAF F-15 nearly shot down it's partner when it fired a live AIM-9M sidewinder at it and hit, thinking that it was an intert training missile. The two planes were on a practice mission 180 miles west of Elmsdorf AFB, Alaska. The pilot was grounded pending an investigation, and several other people in the unit were transferred. The plane that was hit was piloted by Lt. Col. Jimmy Harris, who despite loss of the left horizontal stabilizer was able to regain control of the rolling aircraft, jettison it's external tanks, and return to its airfield. He was unhurt. -- == George William Herbert == Quantum Mechanics can explain everything == JOAT for Hire: Anything, === except Madonna, Flame Wars, and NASA's space =======Anywhere, My Price.======= Policy.
