From: Arther Ferrill <ferrill@milton.u.washington.edu> A good book on the history of tactics is John Keegan, The Face of Battle. He does Agincourt, Waterloo and the Somme. After WWII the U.S. Army historians put out a volume called Small Unit Actions. I can't lay my hands on my copy now, but it shouldn't be too hard to get. Another publication that always contains much on tactics is MHQ: The Quarterly Journal of Military History.
