Their flight characterristics weren't all that bad, but they were very much "trim" aircraft: If you had the trim set right, it was OK. If not, control forces got to be very high. On more than one instance, moving the trim the wrong way caused the aircraft to crash, as both pilots working as hard as possible couldn't move the controls enough to safely take off. ------------ The only drawback with morning is that it comes at such an inconvenient time of day. ------------
