From: att!uunet.UU.NET!mlfarm!ron (Ronald Florence) The newspapers and TV commentators repeatedly dance around the question of the "military options" of the US in response to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Political considerations aside, what military options does the US have if it chose to oppose the Iraqis with force? If, for example, the Iraqis moved toward the Aramco-run oil fields in Saudi Arabia, and the US decided to intervene, how could the US deal with long supply lines, a generally hostile climate and terrain, and the lack of enthusiastic allies or large-scale basing facilities in the area?
