Hello,

The US and other countries are now maintaining a hefty naval presence
in the [Persian:Arab] Gulf. Can anyone list the ships that are stationed there
as well as their classes and other pertinent data. As far as I know, there
are now 2 Udaloi class ASW cruisers (USSR, and what the hell do they send ASW
ships there, except as a show I know not), 1 Nimitz class (CNV 69 Dwight D.
Eisenhower), 2 Forrestal class (CV 60 Saratoga and CV 62 Independence) - one
yet in transit, the Clemenceau is in transit, etc.

Some of the names are known, but I do not have access to the ship data,
since my primary interest is military history (and in very limited fields).

	Thanks in advance,

	yaniv

[mod.note: A run-down of US naval deployment was posted a day or so
ago, but I've seen nothing yet as to the forces of other nations stationed
in the area. Comments ? - Bill ]

Try reading the paper, watching the TV Network News, etc., to acquire the names of the vessels in the area. Then go over to the Public Library and locate the Reference Guide "Janes' All the Worlds' Fighting Ships" to complete the technical data you're seeking. That's as close as I can get to helping you out on this. Janes' is an excellent source for the tech information. Happy Hunting! Tally Ho!
