From: edat!brian@uunet.UU.NET (brian douglass personal account) According to current reports, one squardron of 24 F117s was secretly deployed to Turkey 6 weeks ago! The second squardron week finally went this last weekend, after many postponements. Might there be a reconnaisence (where's that damn spell checker?!) version of the F117? Or one or two so modified for recon duty? There seems to be some indication that the U.S. has suspicions of Iraqi moves prior to the Kuwait invasion. Positioning the F117 in Turkey would have made certain retaliatory strikes possible had Iraq kept going into S.A., though combat radius is a real unknown. -- "I speak only for myself, until they take my semi-auto rifle from my cold, dead hands."
