From: Randy Appleton <randy@ms.uky.edu> Hi- If I were the U.S. President or one of his advisors, I would be looking very carefully at the idea of destroying by air all of Iraq's electric power plants in one supprise raid. Basicaly, these are large fixed installations that cannot be repaired without importing *very* large parts (think of sneaking a dozen turbines in by truck). Also, you everyone in the nation would notice a sudden lack of electricity. Try and imagine life without it. So my question is this. Could we truely destroy these installations (or maybe 90% of them) by say sending a dozen or so F-15/16/18's each. Or what would it take? Maybe some F-111's, or B-1's are the solution? Also, what sort of loss rate do raids like this historically have? Examples from the age of jets and missiles seem better than WWII stats. -Randy -- ============================================================================= My feelings on George Bush's promises: "You have just exceeded the gulibility threshold!" ============================================Randy@ms.uky.edu==================
