From: "IF INSANITY IS AN ART, CALL ME PICASO" <V059L49Z@ubvmsc.cc.buffalo.edu> With all the talk of B-52's being used in the Gulf area and the comparisons to Vietnam, I think I should mention something. The ones with the most bombload in Nam were the D models given the "Big Belly" modifications. This allowed carrying 108 bombs total (including on the wings). G's and F's were also used, but they were limited in capacity because they carried as much as they could without removing the nuclear-weapon capability like they did with the D's. The D's are now getting tans in the desert waiting for conversion to razor blades. As far as I know, the B-52's that would be used today don't have the capacity of the Nam-era D's. The F's in Nam had a max load of about 27 bombs as I understand things. Could anyone confirm or adjust this number for the record? I just thought I'd throw this in to clarify things.
