Last night (morning for you guys in the States) I was watching NBC
Today and there was talk about Harriers in the gulf having safety
problem. Apparently Northorp have been falsifying safety tests.
Anyone know more about what tests ? Has this been mention before in
this group ?

cheers Anthony

according to the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS of ~two days ago the USMC
is grounding all of their harriers both overseas and stateside.

there is a sensor aboard which prevents (so i'm told) the infamous
snap-roll-during-hover maneuver that plagued the harrier when it
was first introduced...

i'm sure someone has more info... i'm just a grunt.

According to TIME this week, the bearings for the gyro in the attitude
control system are failing prematurely. Bearings fail, gyro stops
spinning, and suddenly you are having a real bad day.
