I am interested in any information regarding desert locust
migration in the Middle East, particularly any research involving
forecasting of these migrations and also their effects on radar
and aircraft performance. I understand that it is not unusual
for these locust migrations to appear on radar as an area with a
rain rate greater than 100 mm/hr. I am certain also that these
migrations must have an effect on aircraft performance. Are
there any studies on how to predict these mass migrations? What
instruments and methods are used to predict them and how accurate
are the results?
