In reality, their role is mainly to protect the vital oilfields in that nation. As the weather lets up, 180 German bombers raid London by night. Swansea and Liverpool are also hit. The RAF strikes back at Berlin with 50 bombers, but a third fail to find the target. Jewish residents of occupied France are ordered to register with German authorities. Britain offers to re-open trade negotiations with the USSR, offering rubber and machine tools in exchange for Soviet arms for re-export to China.
