The revolver that you saw is a Smith and Wesson model 15. This gun has been
USAF issue for some time. Our .45's wore out long ago and the Air Force thought
it best not to rebuild them as the Smiths cost was not that much greater than
the rebuild. There has been lots of problems getting the new M9 online so the
Smith model 15 will be with us until the M9 is fully implmented.
A slow moving 130 grain (non +P) .38 special round is used. This round is a
real dog. It does not power out to .380 (9mm kurts/corto,9x17) standerds. The
new guns won't last as long as the Smiths or .45's, but will be alot of
inprovement over what we have now.
