I came across an interesting set of maps in the library yesterday:
7.5" series USGS maps of Yucca Flats and Plutonium Valley, Nevada
from 1960 and 1986 revisions. There is a remarkable change in the
topography of these areas in tthose 26 years. The valley floor is
littered with craters 500-2000 feet in diameter and several hundred
feet deep.

My question is: were these craters caused by above ground
tests or from subsidence following underground tests?
