From: bxr307@csc.anu.oz.au
It was announced yesterday (25 Oct'90) here that two different ships
of the RAN (Royal Australian Navy) were to be dispatched to the Gulf to relieve
the two FFG's currently there on station as part of the blockade. The two
new ships are to HMAS Brisbane (a DDG - modified Charles F.Adams class equipped
with two Ikara ASW missile launchers rather than ASROC) and HMAS Adelaide
(another FFG). They are to depart on Nov.15, the voyage taking some 22 days.
HMAS Supply the underway replenishment ship currently in the Gulf
region will not be replaced until January next year.
