Although I know that Yamamoto had many admirers in his hometown and in the military, I don't think that the majority of Japanese would be interested in him. If you conduct a survey in Japan now, you might find that the younger generation in Japan tends to be ignorant about him... Yamamoto Isoroku and other famous Japanese naval commanders (e.g., Togo Heihachiro --- the GF commander of Russo-Japan sea battle) have been resting there for years.
