It has become more obvious to me lately that many people who put the familiar "HUNGRY? Eat your foreign car!" bumper sticker on their vehicles don't know where the vehicle they are driving is made. Some examples: All Chrysler Mini-vans (Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge) are made in Windser, Ontario, and imported to the U.S. More than 50% of American Motors cars are made in Canada and imported to the U.S. If you are one who is concerned about U.S. content in your vehicle, do you ever stop to consider that a very large percentage of "american made" cars are in fact made in Canada? (yes, that does make them american made, but that is not how most people understand that claim.) Should we be as concerned about canadian imports as we are about japanese imports? If not, why not? The UAW isn't, but then they represent the workers on both sides of the border. Please reply by mail, and I will post the results. -- ________ ( ) Don Stanwyck @( o o )@ 312-979-3062 ( || ) Cornet-367-3062 ( \__/ ) ihnp4!ihuxr!stanwyck (______) Bell Labs @ Naperville, IL
