a little more info on the '85 Vette! the fuel injection system
that will be used is called a port injection type. fuel is
injected directly into the cylinders which eliminates any
power that would be lost in the intake manifold (plenum). in
'86 rumor has it that the vette will be running a dual port
injected engine (mucho hp).

Directly into the cylinders? Would be nice, but not trivial
to do. The injectors would have to handle temperatures of
over 1000 degrees F, and pressures in the 150 psi range.
And not fail due to deposits. You also need a fuel pump that
does well over 150 psi.

"Normal" port fuel injection injects not into the cylinders,
but just ahead of the cylinders. The injector sprays towards
the back of the intake valve. Life is a lot easier for the
injectors, and the fuel pump needs to put out 'only' 50-80 psi.

"dual port injected" ??? what's that?

"Carburetors? Ve don't need no steeenking carburetors!"
(Even if you stick a nozzle in it and call it "throttle body FI")

Port injection puts the fuel into the intake port just
ahead of the intake valve not directly into the
cylinder as in a diesel. It is much better than
throttle body injection anyway!
