From: jumper@hobbes.ncsu.edu (Michael Lanham) I saw on the net the other day, and cannot find it now, a posting that said Congress had just authorized the U.S. Army to fly fixed wing aircraft with weight > 10,000 lbs. It said that the bill also ordered the USAF to hand over the A-10s in stock to the Army though they would be maintained by the USAF. Is this real or am I being guillible. For the person who posted it, please e-mail some sources that I may relay them to other interested parties without access to the net. -- He who will not reason, is a bigot; he who cannot is a fool; and he who dares not is a slave. --- Sir William Drummond Michael Lanham mjlanham@eos.ncsu.edu & jumper@.catt.ncsu.edu

From: x35147d3@usma8.usma.edu (Bergman Charles CDT) In reply to Mr. Lanham's posting: It is very true --- the Army gets the A-10! The sources I know of right now where this was reported are ARMY TIMES (3 DEC 90 issue) ARMED FORCES JOURNAL (DEC 90 issue) These are where I read the news. It is not garbage, it's the truth! I just had a real evil thought - if the Army can now fly larger fixed wing stuff, give them the SR71's!!! :-) Duane
