[sci.military] 50YA Archive

From: henryc@oar.net (Henry Clark)
The 50YA archive that I had kept on mcs213k.cs.umr.edu has been moved to
thor.oar.net (131.187.1.135). A note will be kept on mcs213k for a time
indicating that the archive has moved. The archive can be directly
reached by anonymous ftp or I can arrange for alternate transfer
mechanisms (read e-mail and the like - just drop me a note). I've enclosed
the README file you'll find in the pub/sci.military directory below.

====================

This is the archive of the sci.military WWII "50 Years Ago" Articles.
They are kept in compressed tar format, so be sure to set "binary" transfer
mode when you are ftp'ing.

The articles are grouped by month, for example ww2.09.39 for articles from
Sept 1939, and are updated every day (or so) so that you can retrieve
articles for a part of a month.

To extract the files once you have obtained the month(s) you want, make
a directory and put the monthly file(s) in it. Now type the command
"zcat <month name> | tar xvf -". For example, to retrieve the articles for
Sept. 1939, type the command "zcat ww2.09.39.Z | tar xvf -". Note that if
you don't have the compress/uncompress or tar utilities, I can get the
articles in a suitable form for you.

If you have any questions send e-mail.
