French Foreign Minister Baudouine resigns from the Cabinet; no immediate successor is named, nor is the resignation explained. The Australian 6th Infantry division, having replaced the 4th Indian, resumes the attack on Bardia, and achieve a rapid breakthrough of the perimeter and capture 8000 prisoners. Other British units renew the general offensive into Cyrenaica. General Wavell, however, is asked by London to prepare plans for the transfer of British forces from Africa to Greece. Aboard the battleship Nagato, Admiral Yamamoto conceives his plan for the attack on Pearl Harbor. Distributed to a small group of individuals aboard, it nevertheless is forwarded to Tokyo.
