Just speculating.
Saddam has threatened the allied coalition with a terrible surpise.
In this group there has been an ongoing thread about the technology
and effectiveness of fuel air explosives, such as propane, gasiline
and other petroleum distillates. It has been said that the weapon
is effective against ground troops and perhaps light armour.
So far the only method of delivery discussed has been as bombs
dropped from on high.
However has the following been thought of?
Suppose the Iraqis were to manufacture fairly powerfull short
range rockets. Just enough to lift a heavy FAE bomb to the optimum
detonation height. Then plant them in the desert with wire or radio
control to set them off while a particular area was being invaded
by tanks and their accompanying infantry.
The rockets could be solid fuel. They don't need any guidance.
Their only purpose is to lift the bomb out of a silo to (what)
1000-2000 feet, and then detonate it.

Seems like a dastardly, devilish, lo tech, "secret" weapon,
perfectly suited to someone thinking of a defence strategy.

Just speculating.
