From: Tony_Buckland@mtsg.ubc.ca There has been a lot of speculation about the effects of massive long-lasting oilfield fires, specifically in Kuwait. I recall that the Allies in WWII mounted massive bombing raids with the object of putting out of action the Ploesti fields in Romania.
