From: "Larry W. Jewell" <JEWELLLW@VM.CC.PURDUE.EDU> I was doing research for a series of articles I will be doing for the fiftieth anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack when I noticed that another historic date was coming up even sooner. 7 May 1991 is the 100th anniversary of the keel-laying of U.S.S INDIANA BB-1. The birth of our modern Navy should be observed, and I propose to press Congress to commemorate the date. If any of you are interested in contributing (no money, just a stamp or two) to this effort, please contact me by E- mail and I will send you a short history of the first Battle- ship. I am doing a two-pronged effort aimed at the federal level and at the State of Indiana, and hope that this truly historic date will not be allowed to slide by unnoticed. ************************************************************************ *If you attack expecting to prevail, do it in full strength, because a * *surplus of victory never caused any conqueror one pang of remorse. * ********************************* XENOPHON ***************************** Larry W.
