[sci.military] Skeet munitions.

I saw on a documentary last year (it may have been BBC Horizon or Ch4
Equinox) a range of new high-tech munitions, and would be interested
in knowing if one of them is being used in the Gulf. The concept is
known as "skeet". It is a cluster bomb or shell which ejects a number
of spinning disks (hence the name) each of which contains an IR sensor
and an explosive charge propelling an armour-piercing round. The
skeet spins across over the target area until the IR sensor spots hot
engines. Then the charge fires and the round hits the lightly
armoured top of the tank.
