From: rcm@mtuxo.att.com (R Craig Montero) One item to add to the discussion on launching A/C without using catapults. The F14 has a theoritical takeoff roll on the order of 900' (~277m). Thus, given a flight deck of 1000+' (308+m), a Tomcat could make it off the deck.
