To answer the question of "what happens when you get a non-lethal
hit in a tank?" I went to the source- a friend's father-in-law who was
a Sherman driver in WWII, and who was shot out of no less than *three*
tanks. He said there was a WHANGGGGG and the tank stopped, at which point
he popped the hatch and got out as fast as he could.
He *is* a little deaf to this day, which I'm told is a common ailment
among tank drivers of that era.
