Can anyone point me at a salvage yard, or other reasonably-priced source for the following components for a 1978 - 1980 Merceds-Benz diesel? I want to retrofit cruise control, with the MB system, rather than an aftermarket add-on, and I need: 1. The pickup unit (sensor) that mounts on the back of the speedometer 2. The amplifier 3. The throttle servo (actuator) 4. The control switch that mounts on the steering column 5. The override switch that disables the system when the clutch is depressed 6. Same as item 5, for the brake pedal The main wiring harness for cruise control is built in, and the speedometer is arranged to accept the pickup. Cruise control came with all automatic transmissions for 1978, and was not available for manual; in 1979, cruise control became standard equipment for all U.S. models. The '78s used the same wiring harness and speedometer for both manual and automatic, so my car is ready to have the above items mounted and connected. The big cost things are items 2 and 3; I am looking for used prices on these (willing to pay dealer list for new parts, if necessary, for the others). Please mail replies; post only if you can't get mail through to me. L. R. DuBroff ...[ihnp4]!drusd!lrd
