From: news@midway.uchicago.edu (News Administrator) ---- While all the discussion on the B1 bomber I thought that I would suggest an excellent book on the discussion. I found this book at the school library, but I am sure it is available at a good bookstore. The Book: Wild blue yonder: money, politics, and the B-1 bomber By Nick Kotz Pantheon Books 1988 My two cents: To call this a book on the B1 is unfair it covers a good thirty-five to forty year period examining America's search for a strategic bomber. I do not know if the author had an ax to grind with the military/industrial complex, but the book does not portray the US military procurement policies in a very nice light. It is worth reading for that issue alone. As far as the technical problems it touches on those to. It also talks about the relationship between the B1 and the B2. As the title suggests the focus is not on the technical aspects of the bomber, but rather the technical aspects in respect to money and politics. A good book. max abramowitz madmax@gargoyle.uchicago.edu My opinions are mine, I had them first.
