[sci.military] Tomahawk guidance systems info sought!

From: P.Gosselin@CAM.ORG (Pascal Gosselin)
I am currently writing a technical paper on the Tomahawk and would like
to know about any good references on SLCM technology. I am particularly
interested in learning more about DSMAC and TERCOM, including any
recent information on the use of satellite reconaissance information
and image processing to produce data for DSMAC.

Other subjects that I am lacking information on include:
 - Inertial navigation (possible upgrades using Navstar/GPS technology?)
 - optical final target acquisition at night (how does the Tomahawk
home in on a target at night with precision?)
 - Test data vs. Gulf War realities
 - Manufacturing details (sub contracting, etc..)

I have access to Aviation Week & Space Technology and have found a few
good articles in it so far, but none really deal with the core of the
technologies involved.

A Tomahawk-bashing article in The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists
(Nov 1990) written by Eric H. Arnett mentions a forthcoming book
by the same author: Sea-Launched Cruise Missiles and U.S. Security.
Does anyone know if this book is actually available?

Thanks!

There were good articles in Krasnaya Svezda (aka Red Star) a few
years ago. From the citation I saw in Naval Institute Proceedings,
there were technical treatments of the guidance system.

An overview of the Tomahawk weapon system can be found in the article,
"Tomahawk Has Arrived", by Commander S. J. Froggett, in the December, 1985
issue of the U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings (pp 123-126).
