[sci.military] Depleted Uranium A-10 ammo

I believe that I read somewhere that the A-10 nolonger uses the
depleted uranium ammo due to the high toxcicity (lousy fingers).
As it was explained to me, the gun is not the most effective tank
killer anyway (Mavericks are) and the DU rounds created a definite
hazard to clean-up. Does someone out there know more on this topic?

I only posted this to inform people that still think that the
DU round is being used by the A-10.

The rumor that depleted uranium is no longer used in A-10s is completely
false. There are no problems with this ammo, the most lethal bullets in
the world, due to their high density.
