The Styx comes in three variants. SS-N-2A,B,C Styx A= Fixed wing version carried by patrol craft. Styx B= Folding wing version carried on newer patrol craft. Styx C= Same as "B" but has longer range. Carried by one class of Soviet DDG's and is located on the aft end of the ship. And is fired 180 deg. out from ships heading. Styx A & B are widely exported to many third world countries. The Styx ASCM is a non-sophisticated bird which can be defeated by AECM and/or Chaff. -- Scott Hallmark Ex EW1(SW) USS Missouri, USS Reid, USS Fox
