USS VICTORIOUS isn't a submarine hunter; it is an ocean surveillance
ship. Its designation is T-AGOS 19. Prefix letter "T" denotes that
the ship is assigned to Military Sealift Command. "AGOS" stands for
Ocean Surveillance Ship.

The VICTORIOUS class ships are all SWATH design because of their greater
capability to operate in high latitudes under adverse weather conditions.
A contract for the first SWATH ship, T-AGOS 19, was awarded in November
1986, and options for the next three, for which $184.2 million was included
in the FY 1989 budget, were exercised in October 1988.
