I saw a demonstration of the M1 Abrams and M3 Bradley at Fort Knox last summer, and I've decided that the smokescreens work *much* better on a battlefield where everything is happening anyway, than in this demo (where, when they demonstrated how the tank "hides" in its smoke, you just followed the smoke trail). The point is that it fires smoke grenades to obscure ones vision, and i think it'll even block IR now (I saw an episode of Nova where they were talking about camouflage where they demonstrated that).
