The British placed the ships in strategic > (ie, anti-sub) positions then scuttled them. Sorry, but the British did not scuttle the German High Fleet. The German admiral in command of the interned fleet ordered the scuttling based on rumors that the Germans would refuse to sign the peace treaty and resume hostilities among other reasons. The British were in fact quite angry both at the loss of the interned German ships and the cluttering of Scapa Flow. Robin D.
