[sci.military] Lifting the veil of censorship

Applying current U.S. military policies, what kind of schedule
can we expect the detailed story of Desert Storm to be
released on [sorry for the terminal preposition]? I have in
mind the kind of analytical account I can find in public
libraries now regarding WWII battles like Kursk, with maps,
units, casualties, intelligence sidelights, performance of
the weapons, breathless moments in the command bunkers, etc.

[Pet Peeve: Don't say "censorship" when you mean "secrecy"!
The former is preventing the press from publishing what it
knows, the latter is keeping anyone from finding out.

I think you'll see some stuff immediately, and other accounts
stretched over the next 20-50 years. There may never be
accurate casualty counts of the Iraqi forces, given the
(wholly justified) repugnance of CENTCOM for the body count
nonsense of the Vietnam era. --CDR]
