From: wrf@mab.ecse.rpi.edu (Wm Randolph Franklin) Frantic radio message from a British commando on seeing a BLU-82 dropped at night: "Sir, the blokes have just nuked Kuwait!" / Newsweek, June 17, page 24. This issue has a long story on secret, behind-the-lines, ops in Iraq. According to it, the Coalition followed traditional pedagogical rules for effective teaching: 1. Tell them what you're going to do, "We're going to drop the world's largest conventional bomb on you." 2. Do it. 3. Tell them what you did, "We just dropped... Surrender or we'll do it again." Apparently the Iraqis learned their lessons fast. If only domestic students were as quick. -- Wm.
