From: lam@mozart.cs.colostate.edu (mark lam) I'm trying to put together some scenarios for the computer version of Harpoon, and I would like to know if anyone out there would have a clue as to what ships would compose a standard Soviet Surface Action Group. Is there such a thing, or are the groups taylored to a specific mission? Also, I heard that the Tblisi's name was changed. What's the new name? Thanks in advance! Mark Lam -- Mark Lam

What's the new name? The Tbilisi's name was changed to "Admiral of the Fleet Kuznetsov". It's sister ship was formerly named Riga and is now named "Varyag". The official Soviet story is that the original names were chosen from a list of `hero' cities from the Great Patriotic War and such. Now, however, these cities are part of separatist republics. After patriotic sailors complained, the names were changed. -ted -- Ted Kim Internet: tek@penzance.cs.ucla.edu UCLA Computer Science Department UUCP: ...!{uunet|ucbvax}!cs.ucla.edu!tek 3804C Boelter Hall Phone: (213)206-8696 Los Angeles, CA 90024 FAX: (213)825-2273
