From: "USENET News System" <news@unix.cis.pitt.edu> If I am correct - the comments about drafting women if they are allowed in combat positions was taken up by the Supreme Court. In its infinite wisdom, the court ALLOWS the government to continue its policy of not drafting women BECAUSE they are not given combat roles. It is my understanding that IF the government allows women into combat roles (over the objections of much of the military) then they will be REQUIRED by the Supreme Court to draft women. Let's hope the wiser heads rule, and our daughters remain off of the battlefield. Many thanks to Paul Galvanek and his very clear description of the problem. steve frezza
