From: zrra07@trc.amoco.com (Randall R. Appleton) I heard an interesting story on NPR. Considering the recient talk of women and how the military treats them (poorly!) this seemed interesting. Greg Greeley was an officer in the Air Force (a Lt. I think), and had a security clearence. His term was almost up, and he wanted out. He apeared in a photo in the Washington Post, carrying a gay pride banner. Because of this, several people at the Pentagon (where he works) became aware he was gay. They questioned him about his security clearence. Then they asked him if he was gay. He refused to answer. They asked him to name any gay members of the armed forces he knew of. He did not answer this question either. At this point they became "impolite" (No, I don't know exactly what that means). He was told that he could not be released from the service until this investigation was complete, and that his obstanance was slowing the investigation. He felt that they would not release him until he gave in. They suggested it would be bad for him if word got out he was gay. Thinking "hell, I'm proud of me, and besides I'm already in the Washington Post" he went to the Washington post and told them his story. His release was approved. ============================================================================ Love is Hell
